Northeastern NR 248-CD
[Picture of disc cover]

This CD includes the two chamber works for flute by the Czech composer Ervín Schulhoff, along with his String Quartet no. 1 and works by Kapralova and Klein. Schulhoff's distinctively Czech idiom places him directly in the lineage of Dvorak, Smetana, and Janacek. His music bursts with character and vitality, and betrays no hint of the darkness that was soon to overtake Europe.
Since Northeastern Records went out of business this CD is no longer available through the usual retail channels. However the remaining stock has been acquired by the Terezin Chamber Music Foundation; the CD will be available for purchase at www.terezinmusic.org (click on Store) as long as supplies last.
